Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
