AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations reverberate through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine group.
The adventure focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Crossovers
This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
